What you can expect:
Our two year programme will give you a great insight into banking and strategic areas across an inclusive, driven and customer focused business. You’ll be based in one of our location hubs – London, Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh – and will rotate throughout Commercial Banking. You’ll provide fresh ideas and make strategic recommendations, design innovative products, and play a vital part in business projects. From getting to know our customers and developing great relationship building skills, to learning about financial analysis to understand how businesses work, you’ll be laying the foundations for an exciting career.
There’s never a dull moment in Commercial Banking and each placement will bring its own unique challenge. Within Commercial banking, the business streams available to rotate through include:
Capital and Transactional Management - helps our front line coverage teams to support UK businesses while managing our capital prudently. Home to our Portfolio Management and Structured Finance businesses, centres of excellence in complex and event driven transactions as well as our Product teams who own the creation and management of the Bank’s products.
Corporate and Commercial Coverage - provides relationship-based banking (including debt, trade finance, and cash management products, as well as Supply Chain Finance and international services) to a range of UK businesses, from small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with a turnover starting at £2m, to mid-market corporates. Relationship Managers form close and local relationships to provide guidance and advice to help customers generate future growth.
Large Corporates and Sectors, UK & Western Europe – manages the largest corporate relationships within the Bank across the UK and Western Europe across a range of sectors, delivering the full capabilities of the bank across debt and capital markets finance, risk management and transactional services. Includes a dedicated Corporate Advisory / Sectors function providing leading sector content to both clients and the wider CPB franchise.
Chief Operating Office - brings together the areas of Commercial Banking who are focusing specifically on improving the experience for our customers and employees, focusing on digital innovation all the while ensuring we meet our regulatory obligations.
Lombard Asset Finance and RBS Invoice Finance – specialist product division housed within CPB; Lombard is the UK’s number one asset finance provider, and RBS Invoice Finance is the UK’s number one invoice finance provider, with asset finance and invoice finance being two key products for our corporate base.
Real Estate – delivery of financing to the real estate and property sector with a strong commitment to maintaining the credit strength of our portfolio. The experience and extensive skills of the team are supported by the specialist skills of colleagues both in Real Estate and the wider bank, including accountants, lawyers, surveyors and valuers.
Transaction Services & Mentor - bringing together Transaction Services which provides treasury and banking solutions to our clients facilitating payments, international trade and deposits alongside Mentor, which provides consultancy services in employment law & HR, health & safety and environmental management.

Whatever your degree discipline, we ask all our graduates to have a minimum 2:1. You don’t need any specific UCAS points or experience.
